Bent Out of Sheep concept art and development

This is some concept art and character development art that I did for my preproduction module. This work is for Gabby Jeary's preproduction project "Bent Out of Sheep" which is about a sheep named Lambert who gets transformed into a human by some radioactive grass and falls in love with a woman named Henrietta.
For this project we had to work in the style of Ben Nicholson and/or Barbra Hepworth. Inspired by Hepworth's surgery drawings and the scratch texture I created this concept art for the characters Lambert and Henrietta.

Compositing work for live brief module with Shelterbox. In my group we decided to do stop-motion props and backgrounds 2d character animation. I was tasked with puting the different elements together. Here is one of the finished shots. 2D animation by Aris Kolaretakis and 2D painted backgrounds by Simona Cojocariu. Stop-motion house by Imogen Saunders and Neidin Rodgers.
I put together all these elements in After Effects. I started by importing them in and combining the backgrounds. Then I imported Aris's animation run cycle and scaled it down and moved it along the screen. Then I started lighting the character digitally to match the lighting in the scene. Finally I added shadows.

Our Mother the Extra-Terrestrial (pre-production work)

For my mock pitch for the pre-production module. My story is about ...

When an alien takes control of a family's mother, brother and sister need to work together to save their family and the world.
A mother of a simple suburban family struggles with her children’s fibs and extravagant tales as her husband leaves on an important business trip. The family’s problems become a whole lot bigger when the mother suddenly gets possessed by an evil alien from the planet Zog 234. It becomes the children’s (brother and Sister, Jerry and Marry) problem to try and prove to the town that this time they aren’t lying. The intelligent alien uses its powers to poison and eat the town members to gain strength planning to slowly birth more versions of itself and take over human bodies to continue its evil plan.  Jerry and Marry must team up to find the alien’s weakness to save their beloved mother before it’s too late.

Bean Walk

3D western town

I find 3d to be very difficult as I am more of a 2d person at the moment. However I did enjoy the modeling process and if I have the time I would like to learn more and get better at 3d as it is a useful skill in today's animation work world.
My wire frame version of the town I modeled in maya

The textures I painted in Photoshop for the projection map.

Playing around with lights in maya

Final shot.
I am very proud on how my wild west town looks. If I have more time in future I would like to learn more about modeling in 3D.

2d Background

This is my 2d Background. I'm not a great painter so I am proud of how this shot turned out. I find that making backgrounds is quite difficult. I feel that I am better at character art and I find technical drawings quite difficult. My art style is usually quite cartoony and expressive so painting in a naturalistic technical way was a good challenge to push my skills further.

2D six week playground project

Final animation with sound. I found this task very difficult as animating 8 characters and making them all interact each other proved a difficult thing to time.
Key frames work in progress.
